In addition to #2, try using other social media networks to broaden your job search as well. This includes CareerBuilder.com, Twitter.com, Monster.com, Facebook.com, and OneCubicle.com (which is a new website that bridges the gap between LinkedIn and Facebook and is definitely worth a look).

The suggestion of using Linkedin is an excellent one as there are so few young job seekers using it. I’m not sure how long the window of oportunity will last for, but definitely worth giving a go. I’ve found that many industry associations have a shortlist of prominent members who are often prepared to go the extra mile in terms of providing advice and potential introductions. try that too. I always thought LinkedIn was something for older generations. I signed up anyways and since then I’ve realized that the spread is pretty even. I wish more people used it as it is nice to basically be able to see these people’s resumes.
